Connection: The Embodiment of Divinity
Ever experience a moment where you could feel divinity all around you?
You know, the times when everything seems to make perfect sense and you feel immense gratitude, purpose, and connection? A time when there is heightened energy, a pulsating warmth and radiating love all around you.
There is a world beyond our five senses, and likely, you’ve experienced a communion with it. Perhaps when witnessing the birth of a child, a beautiful service, or an experience of synchronicity that gave you chills.
What if you could access that feeling of divine connection at any moment?
What if that divine energy was always there, always around, just waiting for you to tap into?
There's an energy, a force, that we can attune to at a moment's notice to ground, center, and reconnect. We are not alone. Connecting to that which is greater is crucial for expressing the truest and most fulfilled versions of ourselves.
So how do we define connection? And what makes it so essential?
Let’s explore this concept and ways in which you can nurture divine connection in your own life.
What Does it Mean to be Connected?
When you are living life from a place of connectedness, life flows with fluidity. You have a sense that you are in the right place at the right time. Life feels like more of an effortless dance than a trudge through the mud.
But, what does it really mean to be connected? And to what are we connected to?
What you may define as divine or cosmic energy exists in and around us. True connection is the ability to tune to that energy, which in turn attunes you to the voice of your Intuition, that sense of knowingness.
Different religions and spiritual backgrounds honor a host of different deities and concepts of higher energy. It matters not what this energy is called: Higher Self, Higher Consciousness, God, Allah, Buddha, Creation, Universe, Love. What matters is your connection with it and your willingness to immerse within it.
No matter the means for achieving this special type of connection, the end results are the same. Spending time in communion with the divine or with source energy is a powerful practice that can lead to profound transformation.
Connection and the Chakras
Coming back into deep connection with the innate wisdom imbued in your Soul opens you to your intuition and remembrance of your own divinity. Learning how to embody your divinity transforms the life around you, giving you a new lens of awareness and depth of understanding.
The ability to perceive and connect to these higher energies relates to the 6th and 7th chakra, the third eye and the crown. The third eye chakra, or Ajna, is known as the seat of intuition, where the voice of your soul resides. It is an energetic center where the stream of consciousness merges and flows upward toward the crown or Sahasrara chakra.
All of the chakras share a profound relationship to one another, but the interwovenness of these highest two chakras is powerful. In the third eye, we are able to perceive our own divinity. With the crown, we are able to fully transcend into sacred oneness.
How to Nurture Connection
Setting aside time for intentional connection to the intangible helps us to center to ourselves and our purpose. The ways to best nurture this connection are unique to each individual. Don’t be afraid to experiment, trying on different spiritual practices seeing which ones land and which ones don’t.
If you aren’t sure where to start, here are a few ideas to play with:
Nature bathing- Our take on forest bathing; wander or lounge in any natural environment in the great outdoors and soak in the sounds, sights, smells, and energy of the beauty of nature.
Creation of sacred space/an altar- Designate a small area of your home to create a sacred spot, a place you can settle into for meditation, prayer, reading, journaling. Infuse the area with items that hold deep meaning to you, pieces you are drawn to, and elements from nature.
Unrestricted creative time- Set aside time in your to do list for a session of open ended creativity. Perhaps intuitive writing, painting, dancing, making music. Whatever makes your soul happy. Creating often opens the floodgates of divine energy, allowing it to channel through you.
Sacred ceremonies- Ceremony is a powerful practice to connect with the Divine. Whether alone or in small groups, these ceremonies may include chanting, prayer, meditation, mudra, mindful movement and more.
You can even embody the divine within the ordinary by inviting more intention to things you already do. Your morning routine can become more of a ritual, spending more time in centered awareness, making it a moving meditation that allows for divine connection.
There are an endless number of beautiful ways to connect to this divine energy, all of which bring you closer to source and to your own innate and powerful inner wisdom.
Connect to Yourself, Embody the Divine
“I have been a seeker and I still am. But, I stopped asking the books and stars and I started listening to the teaching of my soul.” -Rumi
Though we can experience the power and beauty of the divine through external situations, our most direct route to divinity is through connecting with ourselves.
Life is often challenging and busy, and it’s easy to forget that we are made of the stars. That divine and powerful energy that we feel is inside of us at all times. We are able to connect to that which is greater at a moment’s notice. We can intentionally carve out moments of divine connection in our daily lives by turning inward.
We can follow our own internal compass and trust that it won’t lead us astray. We can rest and find solace in the knowing that we are loved, protected, and supported by the universe.
True connection to that which is greater is how we embody our divinity and embrace our highest Self.
